Indiana State Names Schertz New Men's Basketball Coach

Indiana State named Josh Schertz as its new men’s basketball coach Wednesday.

Schertz was a four-time Division II national coach of the year at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn.

In 13 seasons at Lincoln Memorial, Schertz guided the Railsplitters to NCAA Division II tournaments 10 times and three final four appearances.

"I am grateful that Josh and (wife) Natalia embraced the opportunity to bring the championship culture they established at Lincoln Memorial to ISU," Indiana State athletic director Sherard Clinkscales said in a press release. "Josh is blessed with a strong business and basketball acumen that will raise the profile of our program while bringing in a style of play that has a proven record of success."

Schertz had a 336-68 record at Lincoln Memorial. He succeeds Greg Lansing, whose contract was not renewed March 7 after 11 seasons leading the Sycamores.

WFIU/WTIU News is an independent newsroom rooted in public service.

“Act Independently” is one of the basic creeds of journalism ethics, and we claim it proudly. The WFIU/WTIU News facilities are located on the campus of Indiana University, which does hold our broadcast license and contribute funding to our organization. However, our journalists and senior news leaders have full authority over journalistic decisions — what we decide to cover and how we tell our stories. We observe a clear boundary: Indiana University and RTVS administrators focus on running a strong and secure organization; WFIU/WTIU journalists focus on bringing you independent news you can trust.
