MCHD Launching Vaccination For Homebound Hoosiers

The Monroe County Health Department will begin administering COVID-19 vaccines to those who are unable to leave their homes.

Teams from the City of Bloomington Fire Department and Monroe County Fire Protection District are visiting 40 homebound residents in their homes who have been signed up on the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Homebound Hoosier Program.

They will be receiving the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

“One of the things our community always excels at is partnerships and this is a great example. We are so excited to be able to offer this service to homebound residents,” said Amy Meek, a nurse and Program Manager at the Monroe County Public Health Clinic.

MCHD Administrator Penny Caudill says some of the 40 people in the program are 95 or older.
