The Monroe County Community School Corporation condemned recent attacks against Asian-Americans.
“We will not tolerate bullying, hate speech or racism in any form,” Board Member April Hennessey said in statement read during the March 23 meeting.
Hennessey referenced three separate shootings in the Atlanta area on March 16 in which police say a lone gunman attacked three massage parlors. Six of the eight victims were of Asian-American descent.

“As a school district, we are invested in ensuring a safe, welcoming and inclusive community for all of our students families and employees,” said Hennessey.
She urged anyone who may be a victim bullying or racism to call the school corporation’s tip line at 812-330-7700.
There is also a website where those who experience or witness acts of hate toward Asian-Americans can report those incidents.
IU Bloomington also has a Bias Incident Hotline and website. Anyone who experiences incident or witnesses an someone being discriminated based on their age, sex, race, religion or disability can report the event by calling 812-855-8187.
