Rose Hill Farm Stop Now Open Every Day On West Kirkwood

The cooperative of local farmers has sourced Bloomington’s agriculture since August 2021.
The cooperative of local farmers has sourced Bloomington’s agriculture since August 2021.

The former Morrison’s Appliance store on West Kirkwood Avenue is now a farm stop open seven days a week.

With a selection of produce, meats, and coffees from more than 30 local vendors, Rose Hill Farm Stop opened its doors Thursday.

Rachel Beyer is a local food coordinator in Bloomington and said the co-op aims to boost the community’s access to transparently sourced food.

“Our local food systems often lack the basic infrastructure," she said. "Small farms have maybe a farmers market and a CSA [community-supported agriculture] they can sell through, and those usually have a limited population they’re able to reach.”

The farm stop received several grants, including one from Recover Forward Bloomington.  Mayor John Hamilton launched the program in July 2020 to rebuild the city from the COVID-19 pandemic in a way that embodies its goals for racial equity, sustainable economy, and climate action.
