Purdue Says 84 Students And 214 Employees In Violation Of COVID-19 Testing And Vaccine Rules

Eighty-four students and 214 Purdue employees are not in compliance with the university’s COVID-19 guidelines.

A university release said in the first week of the semester, 700 students were out of compliance but most have now uploaded proof of their COVID-19 vaccine or gone for mitigation testing.

The university’s guidelines say you have to be fully vaccinated or participate in regular mitigation testing to be on campus.

Three weeks into the semester, the university has contacted the 84 students still not in compliance by phone and email and told them that they’re in violation of the university’s COVID-19 rules.

The university says a third violation will mean suspension for students as early as next week, depending on compliance numbers from this week.

Purdue said disciplinary action ranges from warning to suspension for multiple violations.

The employees in violation of mitigation testing and vaccine rules have received a written warning. The university statement said if noncompliance continues, disciplinary action could include termination.

Indiana University said it does not have the same information available.

According to IU's COVID-19 dashboard, 88.2 percent of students and staff report being fully vaccinated. The dashboard also says 168 people across IU's campuses tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
