Two vacant Bloomington restaurant spaces will receive new life in 2022

The former site of Laughing Planet Cafe on Kirkwood Ave. will soon be home to a new business.

Bloomington will welcome a pair of new restaurants in January.

Evansville-based Parlor Doughnuts plans to move into the former site of Laughing Planet on Kirkwood Avenue. The shop has locations across the country and offers specialty doughnuts and coffee.

A new concept, Small Favors, from a husband and wife duo, will be a farm-to-fork restaurant with rotating, seasonal menus along with a unique, international wine list.

Nick Dietrich, one of the restaurant’s managing partners and an IU graduate, has opened previous restaurants in New Orleans and London, but is especially excited about this concept.

“Our emphasis is going to be really bringing stuff to Bloomington that just isn't here right now.”

Small Favors plans to open in early January at the former site of La Vie en Rose.
