Mayor Kerry Thomson named Anna Killion-Hanson director of the Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) Department last Monday.
Thomson appointed Killion-Hanson as HAND interim director in December as a part of her administrative team.
The department is responsible for “programs, services, and partnerships to preserve community character, promote affordable housing and encourage neighborhood vitality,” according to the department’s webpage.
Killion-Hanson is a lifelong resident and has two decades of experience in Bloomington’s housing market. Thomson said she is a good fit for tackling the city’s housing crisis.
“She has vast real estate and housing development experience as well as lots of experience with HUD,” Mayor Thomson said in last week’s Ask The Mayor. “So we're looking forward to getting a housing plan together under Anna's leadership.”
She also has served as executive director of the Bloomington Redevelopment Commission and has been an assistant director with HAND since June 2023.
