Local Paralympian wins 2nd triathlon gold

Grace Norman

Grace Norman held up the finish line banner to the crowd with a smile after securing her second gold medal in the Women’s paratriathlon Monday.

She finished the Women's Individual PTS5 with a time of 1:04:40, almost a minute ahead of second place.

Norman grew up in Jamestown, Ohio, but the 26-year-old is now a PhD student in Bloomington.

This is Norman’s fourth overall Olympic medal, and the athlete’s third Olympics. Norman took gold at the first-ever paratriathlon at the 2016 Rio Games when she was only 18-years-old.

The event was set to take place Sunday, but was postponed due to heavy rains causing wastewater runoff to go into the Seine river, raising the E. coli to an unsafe level.
