Early voting for the general election in Monroe County is up more than 15 percent compared to 2020.
Every day since voting began Oct. 8, walk-in voters have surpassed the turnout from four years ago.
Monroe County Election supervisor Kylie Farris said her staff is working to keep lines manageable. She visits and works the early voting site daily. The first week, the voting site was half-staffed and struggling to keep lines down.
“So, we bumped it up to full staff for this week, and I've noticed a much better flow down there,” Farris said.

From the time someone walks in the door to exiting the building, early voting takes about five minutes, according to Farris.
As of Friday morning 9,087 people had cast a ballot on-site, she said. That’s 9.5 percent of registered voters in Monroe County.
The average number of early voters per day this year is 1,119. In 2020, it was 968.
