Longtime GOP state reps Mayfield, Heaton hold seats with major victories

Longtime state representatives Peggy Mayfield and Bob Heaton, both Republicans, held their seats with resounding victories Tuesday.

With 70 percent of precincts reporting, Mayfield had almost 76 percent of the vote against Democrat Michelle Higgs in District 60, which includes parts of Johnson, Morgan, and Monroe Counties.

Heaton had almost 70 percent of the vote against Democrat Kurtis Cummings in District 46, which includes all of Owen County and parts of Clay, Monroe, and Vigo Counties.

Democrat Matt Pierce ran unopposed in District 61, which covers much of Bloomington.
