A message from Sara Wittmeyer

WFIU/WTIU News Bureau Chief thanks our audience and news team for the support they've given her while she's out on medical leave.

I love waking up with you in the mornings and spending my days talking to our journalists and producers about what’s happening in our communities and how we can best serve you, our audience.

Recently, I’ve heard from many of you about my absence over the last few weeks.

I’m a pretty private person, but I’m out on medical leave. 

I really can’t express enough my appreciation for your kind emails, notes, and even flowers! This is such an incredible reminder that in addition to being the folks who bring you the news we’re also your neighbors, friends, and acquaintances.

I’m grateful for the good work Joanie Dugan is doing on Morning Edition, and I’m proud of our whole team for juggling a lot of things under intense pressure.

I’m definitely looking forward to rejoining you later this year.
