Members of Indiana University’s Board of Trustees aren’t saying why they met early Friday in a closed-door session in Bloomington.
IU officials announced the meeting only a few days ahead of time.

Trustees Quinn Buckner and James Bopp declined to answer questions as they left Bryan Hall about three hours after the meeting began.
"Executive sessions of the board are confidential,” Bopp said.
On Tuesday, an IU spokesperson said the trustees planned to meet an attorney, exempting the discussion from Indiana open door laws.
The board is dealing with a variety of legal challenges, including over its rollback of diversity, equity and inclusion programs. In response to pressure from Gov. Mike Braun, the legislature and the federal government, IU cut many DEI initiatives.
And a federal judge recently signaled IU’s expressive activity policy is likely unconstitutional. IU has since removed time restrictions for protests.
