Johnny Mercer, The Singer-Songwriter

This week on the show, we continue our look at jazz's finest singer-songwriters by turning to Mr. Johnny Mercer from Savannah, G-A, the lyricist responsible for such tunes as "Blues In The Night," "Come Rain Or Come Shine," and "Moon River." Mercer was equally accomplished as a composer and a singer, performing dozens of hit singles for Capitol Records in the 1940s, a record company that he co-founded in 1942. This hour, we'll hear the songwriter performing his own tunes.
