Indiana Celebrates 100 Years Of State Parks

The Indiana State Parks were presented to the Hoosier state on December 16, 1916 as a gift to celebrate 100 years of statehood.

A century later, the system has grown to include 32 properties and has met the goal to have a state park within a one hour drive of every Hoosier.

This week on Noon Edition, we'll talk about the history of the state parks over the past 100 years and the future of public lands in the state.

You can visit Becca's blog as she visits every state park in Indiana  here.

Guests:

Tom Hohman, President, Indiana Parks Alliance

Sandra Messner, Director of Outreach, Indiana Forest Alliance

Becca Costello, Reporter, WFIU/WTIU
