The holiday season traditionally is a season of generosity and service.
Nonprofit organizations that deal with problems such as hunger, homelessness, and poverty work especially hard during the holidays to make sure they can address needs all year.
Some area non-profit leaders will join us on this week’s Noon Edition.
Hoosier Hills Food Bank collects, stores, and distributes food to non-profit agencies. These agencies feed those who are hungry in Brown, Lawrence, Orange, Owen, Martin, and Monroe counties. Since opening in 1982, the food bank distributed over 60 million pounds of food.
Beacon provides housing, day and overnight shelter, hunger relief, social services, financial support, life essentials, such as laundry, mail, showers, etc., and other related health and human services to thousands of people each year.
New Hope for Families was founded in 2011 as an emergency housing solution to help families in Monroe County. New Hope opened its childhood care and education program for children under 6 in 2015.
