Atmospheric Inversion and Radio Reception
At certain times of the year, weather conditions known as atmospheric (or temperature) inversions can affect FM radio reception. During an inversion, layers of warm and cool air trap radio signals differently than usual, allowing signals from distant stations to travel much farther than normal. This can sometimes cause interference, making local stations sound weak, fade in and out, or be temporarily replaced by another station on the same frequency.
These conditions are caused by the atmosphere, not by a problem with our transmitter or equipment. Inversions are typically temporary and improve as weather conditions change.
