Love him or hate him, you can’t deny the impact Coach Bob Knight had on the game of basketball. Some Gary residents have filed a lawsuit in an effort to stop the state from allowing industrial polluters in their communities. And time is running out to see the famous foliage in Brown County.

In a statement from the athletics department, there are no public memorials planned by IU out of respect for the family’s wishes and desire for privacy.

Knight’s larger-than-life personality earned him the adoration of diehard fans and the ire of critics. The university is not planning a public memorial service.

This week on Noon Edition, we will talk about Coach Knight with some of his former players.

Knight became the head coach at IU in 1971 and quickly turned the program into one of the nation’s best, winning 11 Big Ten titles and three national championships in 29 seasons.

Former Indiana Hoosiers coach Bob Knight was released from a hospital in Bloomington, Indiana, and returned home after being admitted with an illness over the weekend.
