IU Athletics is planning to honor coach Bob Knight at Friday night’s exhibition game and throughout the season. The Hall of Fame coach died Wednesday at the age of 83.
In a statement from the athletics department, there are no public memorials planned by IU out of respect for the family’s wishes and desire for privacy.
But the IU men’s and women’s basketball players will wear a commemorative “RMK” patch. The football team will wear “RMK” decals on their helmets.
A moment of silence will proceed Friday’s men’s basketball game and Saturday’s IU football game. Videos of former players, coaches, managers, and others will be highlighted on the video board during Friday night’s game as well.
