In 2021, the nonprofit received breast milk from more than 800 donors. In 2022, their donor count jumped to over 1,000.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that most babies be fed exclusively with breast milk for the first six months. But in 2018, only about one in four babies born in the U.S. met that target.

While early research on COVID antibodies and breast milk is promising, it’s not yet clear whether breast milk will prevent a child from getting sick. And, there are no FDA regulations for the breast milk industry.
