Roughly a dozen members of the Indiana National Guard are headed to North Carolina to help with search and rescue efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, state officials announced late Monday.

Members off the Indiana National Guard spent more than a week testing nearly 80 different military-minded innovations.

Update: The individual was taken back into custody.

The site is expected to bring various types of autonomous vehicle testing to the Johnson County military site.

Artist Tiffany Black partnered with two evacuees, Zainab Ahmadi and Fawzia Abdaly, to lead the mural project, which received contributions from 57 other evacuees at Camp Atterbury.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the loud “boom” that surprised many Hoosiers throughout south central Indiana Wednesday.

Since September, the camp housed more than 7,200 evacuees as part of Operation Allies Welcome.

The next phase of the resettlement effort will be transitioning guests from military bases into permanent housing.

Last month, Gov. Eric Holcomb said he expected resettlement efforts to wrap up by the end of the year.
