The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says the single-engine plane crashed around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in a rural area outside Bristol about 55 miles northwest of Fort Wayne.

Egg drop syndrome is a rare, transmittable disease that impacts the thickness of eggshells. So far, the disease has affected chickens at around 20 northern Indiana farms.
