Griffy Lake

Hunters at Griffy Lake harvested 19 deer over two deer hunt weekends last month. That is significantly lower than previous years.

Griffy Lake will be closed from Nov. 16-17 and Nov. 23-24 for a deer hunt. Residents will not be able to hike, fish or boat.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will stock public waters with about 51,000 catfish this fall for more fishing opportunities.

The City of Bloomington is looking for volunteers to help identify insects at Griffy Lake Nature Preserve.

Visit Bloomington has tracked 31 eclipse-related events so far. 

There have been about 1.1 million rides since late 2018, generating a total of about $200,000 for the city.

The road has been repaved, a guardrail installed, and a new paved walkway added along the lake. But one of the highlights of the construction may be the new pier to fish from.

The west side of the North Headley Road causeway will be expanded to add stone retaining walls and a packed gravel path.
