Universities in Indiana will be required to share details of hazing incidents that take place on their campuses under a new state law.

Indiana University’s Delta Upsilon chapter was suspended by the fraternity’s national Board of Directors for endangering others and hazing.

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated was placed on cease and desist by the university on Oct. 27 for hazing, according to the Division of Student Affairs.

This is the second fraternity placed on cease and desist this week.

The Indiana Gamma chapter has been placed on disciplinary status five times since 2019.

Sept. 25-29 marks National Hazing Prevention Week. IU plans to hold hazing prevention initiatives year round.

The IU chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity was placed on cease and desist by the university on Sept. 1 for hazing, according to the Division of Student Affairs.

It is the fourth Greek organization to be placed on cease and desist since November. Thirteen of the 19 Greek organizations on IU’s disciplinary status list have been subject due to hazing.

Zeta Beta Tau is one of seven Greek organizations on disciplinary probation and one of 10 on suspension.
