Indiana University’s Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity was placed on cease and desist Monday for hazing, suspending all chapter activities until an investigation of disciplinary violations is complete.

It’s the fourth IU Greek organization to be placed on cease and desist since last November, including Zeta Beta Tau, Theta Chi and Alpha Phi, according to IU Student Affairs. Nine other Greek organizations are currently suspended, with seven on other disciplinary statuses.

Kappa Alpha Psi has not been on disciplinary statuses since 2020, when the chapter faced deferred suspension for alcohol use and noncompliance with Greek organization agreements.

Thirteen of the 19 Greek organizations on IU’s disciplinary status list have been subject due to hazing.

Further acts of misconduct will result in more consequences for Kappa Alpha Psi and other Greek organizations on probation. The cease and desist order will remain in effect until further notice.
