TSA stops record number of firearms at Indianapolis airport this year

The TSA has detected more firearms at the Indianapolis International Airport so far in 2023 than in any previous year.

The number of guns intercepted by TSA agents has steadily increased since 2010 with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of more than 6,500 guns intercepted by TSA between Jan. 1 and Dec. 16 last year, 68 were at the Indianapolis International Airport.

Airport authority executive director Mario Rodriguez said 14,000- 16,000 people will come through IND each day between Wednesday and Monday.
