Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Seymour native John Mellencamp spoke Friday on IU’s campus, where the university unveiled a statue of him.

A rock critic and longtime friend of John Mellencamp says it’s fitting that Indiana University will unveil a statue Friday of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Seymour native.

Indiana University is honoring musician, activist and longtime Hoosier fan John Mellencamp. The sculpture will stand near the Fine Arts Plaza on the Bloomington campus.

It’s the first time he’s released music since “Other People’s Stuff” – a cover collection– back in 2018.
