The goal is to educate and get people involved with tools such as the FCC Broadband Map, internet speed tests, the Indiana Connectivity Program and the Affordable Connectivity Program.

The money goes to telecom companies and providers who then connect unserved communities.

While those requests reveal desire, today’s announcement isn’t likely to translate to investment for all bids.

Rural areas are some of the last places to get high speed internet access. Decades ago, they were also the last areas to receive electricity.
