Clergy, activists and elected officials arranged a protest against Beckwith’s controversial defense of the three-fifths compromise.

Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith has rescheduled his town hall set for Monday in Bloomington to May in Ellettsville. Beckwith’s office said he had to switch dates because Monday is the second-to-last day of the legislative session.

Third house forums are public events where Hoosiers can meet with their representatives. For state lawmakers, those usually take place during the legislative session from January through March or April.

The events, organized by the state Democratic Party, invite Hoosiers to ask questions of the candidates ahead of this fall’s elections.

The Black Caucus uses the events to communicate directly with Hoosiers about their work in the previous year and gather input on priorities for the future.

On several issues, Braun expressed reluctance for solutions that would involve the federal government. That includes lowering prescription drug costs and improving racial wealth disparities.

Much of the conversation focused on topics like building new trails and improving existing roadways; however, a lot of the focus was on Ellettsville’s downtown.
