Trades District Technology Center

The Forge, part of the Bloomington Trades District Development, installed the final steel beam as part of a “topping off” ceremony for the structure. People in attendance signed the steel beam before it was installed.

The 22,000 square foot building will house about 13,000 leasable office spaces and be located at the Trades District’s southeast corner.

The board currently consists of nine individuals with expertise in real estate, business, academia and government.

Four tracts are for sale within the five-acre property north of city hall, ranging in minimum cost from $560 thousand to more than $2.5 million.

The only holdout at the body’s Wednesday meeting was District 6 representative Stephen Volan, who abstained from the vote.

Council members want more information on funding for the project before voting.

The extension is worth $250,000, which increases the total value of the contract to $367,342 since it was first approved in December 2020.

The plan commission also considered two amendments to the city’s largest planned unit housing development at 1550 N. Arlington Park Drive.
