Indiana’s bioscience industry grew substantially last year.

BioCrossroads is a non-profit that advocates for the state’s life sciences industry, including medical device and pharmaceutical companies.

The organization says 34 new Hoosier companies received funding and 85 new products from Indiana received FDA approval in 2018

Lori LeRoy manages communications for BioCrossroads and says the state’s average wage in the field is just shy of $100,000 annually.

She says that places Indiana among the top five nationally for average earnings and helps the state compete for top talent.

"These are really high paying jobs," she says. "Almost double what a normal private sector job."

The organization says Indiana life sciences companies exported $10.2 billion of products last year.
