The Brown County Playhouse Struggling to Make Ends Meet

The Brown County Playhouse.
The Brown County Playhouse.

Nashville’s Brown County Playhouse has been a staple of the community for almost 70 years.

New performances and acts debut at the Playhouse every week and although ticket sales increase every year, it may not be enough to keep the doors open.

The Board of Directors for the Playhouse say they’ve been in strict strategic planning mode in order to make ends meet.

For Assistant Executive Director Hannah Estabrook, it's all about having open communication with the community.

“All non-profit organizations struggle every once in a while, if not all the time, so its one of those things where we’re just trying to push; you know the community does want us here, they’ve told us multiple times and we want to be there for them,” she says.

The Playhouse has also had multiple fundraising events this year and they don’t plan to stop anytime soon.

Estabrook says they hope the 70 th birthday party in November will help bring in opportunities for sponsorships and donations.
