Attorney General's Office To Appeal Ruling Ordering Release Of Jill Behrman's Killer

Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill will appeal a recent ruling ordering the release of the man who was convicted of killing Bloomington resident Jill Behrman.

In 2006, a Morgan County grand jury found John Myers guilty in the May 2000 disappearance and murder of Behrman, who was an Indiana University student at the time.

Earlier this month, U.S. District Court Judge James Sweeney ruled that Myers had received ineffective counsel during his trial, noting – among other things – that Myers’ attorney made false statements to the jury. Hill’s office announced Friday that it would appeal Myers’ release.

Myers is being held in Michigan City at the Indiana State Prison.
