Uel Zing To Stop Production By End Of Year

Bloomington-based Uel Zing Coffee announced Tuesday it will stop bottling operations by the end of the year.

The company sells cold brew coffee at restaurants and shops in Bloomington and Indianapolis.

Founder Samuel Sveen says the business is closing because high production costs outpaced sales volume.

"I'm proud of sticking with what we were doing and keeping the integrity," Sveen says. "Because if we did, like, sell to another company, the way you would make money is to have a way lower quality of a product."

The company's yellow bike carts and its stand at the Bloomington Farmers' Market will likely be retired, as well.

Sveen hopes to continue producing the Zing blend of coffee beans in collaboration with Indianapolis-based Tinker Coffee Company.
