The City of Bloomington held its first Housing Study Listening Session Monday afternoon at City Hall.
Housing and Neighborhood Development set up the listening sessions to get feedback from different stakeholders, government officials and the community on the different types of housing available in the city. Realtors from around the area attended the first of eleven scheduled sessions.
Amy Haase, a principal of RDG Planning and Design in Omaha, is overseeing the sessions as a third-party moderator. She says the information will help officials make estimates on future housing stock in Bloomington.
“They were telling us that people aren't moving out of their existing homes because they don't have those options," Haase says. "So that's a big takeaway - how do we get movement happening in the market?"
The sessions are scheduled through Thursday at City Hall.
