The Bloomington Police Department is investigating vandalism to parking meters throughout downtown.

The city says 125 meters have been damaged. Vandals spray painted the meters and filled credit card slots with expanding foam. The city estimates damage at $5,000.

A parking enforcement officer first discovered the damage Wednesday morning. Meters surrounding the Courthouse square as well as others throughout downtown streets were vandalized.

Motorists can still park at the damaged meters using the ParkMobile app, but those meters won't be enforced.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from downtown businesses in hopes of identifying those responsible.
