Indiana Shoppers Head To Stores To Join Black Friday Throngs

Indiana shoppers are filling stores and malls as they join the hunt for holiday bargains during Black Friday.

Thirty-two-year-old Nanci Custer and her mother-in-law headed out before sunrise Friday to take part in one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

The two women made a 25-mile trip from Pendleton, Indiana, to downtown Indianapolis, where they hit the stores at Circle Centre Mall.

They spent most of their morning at the mall's Carson's store, where Nanci Custer spent just $67 buying gifts, mostly clothes, for six relatives. Custer says that's "a pretty good bargain all in itself."

But many shoppers began their holiday shopping on Thursday evening after their Thanksgiving dinner.

Thousands filled a Target store in Fort Wayne, where the line to enter stretched around the building.
