The Woolery Mill is on its way to being Bloomington's newest banquet and event space. The former stone mill has sat mostly vacant for decades, but in recent years has hosted events like the Bloomington Craft Beer Festival.
One World Enterprises Owner Jeff Mease is spearheading the effort to turn the former mill into a multi-use space.
"We're under construction now, it's about halfway built, our 28-thousand square foot event space," Mease says. "It will hold up to about 500 people for a seated dinner."
The new facility will integrate design elements from the old mill into modern event space. It will also feature a large outside patio.
The construction comes as Monroe County just approved a tax to fund an expansion of its downtown Bloomington convention center.
However, Mease says the Woolery Mill will not host events like trade shows, and will focus on events that serve food and drink.
Mease says they are already holding potential bookings after July of 2018.
