Ten Firefighters from the White River Fire Department in Johnson County are in a voluntary two week quarantine.
Fire chief Mike Pell says the firefighters came into contact with a man who was expressing symptoms consistent with the coronavirus.
Pell says the 60 year-old man passed away.
The crew received the call about 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The dispatch was for a man who was having trouble breathing. Pell says when his crew arrived on the scene the man was no longer breathing and was in cardiac arrest.
Pell says the man's family reported that he traveled to Mexico earlier this year but returned January 18. They didn't think he needed to be tested for coronavirus since that was nearly two months ago.
Pell says none of the firefighters have been tested for the coronavirus and they are in quarantine because of "an abundance of caution for the community."
Eight of the ten firefighters are being housed at the fire station. The other two had other arrangements available to them.
Pell says WRFD is working with the Johnson County Health Department to make sure the deceased is tested. Pell says his department is awaiting those test results.
Numbers released Sunday by the Indiana State Department of Health show there are 19 presumptive positive cases of the virus, up from 15 on Saturday.
The ISDH reports it has tested 121 people for the virus.
