An Indiana University spokesperson says international students who can’t return to their home countries will be able to remain on campus until summer.
IU’s president announced Sunday that the university would conduct the remainder of its spring semester online and close most on-campus housing by March 20.
That's a problem for international students, who might not be able to immediately return to their home countries amid growing flight cancellations and travel restrictions.

IU spokesperson Chuck Carney says the university is also looking to help students who can't return to homes within the U.S.
“It’s really just a matter of those who need to stay because they can't return logically to their country for one reason or another,” Carney says. “We'll make accommodations for those students and also for others who may not have any place to return to domestically.”
He adds: “We'll work with students because this is obviously an unusual situation, and we want to make sure that we are as accommodating as we can be, given the circumstances.”
More details on the housing plans are set to be released Tuesday.
