What Are Delivery Services Doing To Protect Their Workers?

There are a number of delivery services in Bloomington from Door Dash to Btown Menus. Several readers submitted questions asking what those companies are doing to help keep delivery drivers safe. 

We here at City Limits reached out to several of those delivery services to ask.

Mr. Delivery/ delivery.com

  • Offering text message COVID-19 training for drivers.
  • Works with Delivery Drivers Inc. to make sure drivers are aware of financial options if no longer able to work. 
  • Not offering pay raises for drivers, but the elimination of delivery fees has led to increased driver earnings.
  • Partnered with Cardinal Spirits to provide free hand sanitizer to delivery drivers.  
  • Locally owned franchise since 2013. 

Uber Eats

  • Contactless delivery.
  • Offering $0 delivery fees.
  • Drivers suffering from COVID-19 may receive up to 14 days of financial assistance.

Grubhub

  • Contactless delivery.
  • Offering two weeks of sick pay for drivers suffering from COVID-19. 
  • Offering personal protective gear to drivers. 
  • Curbside pick-up for drivers and customers at restaurants. 

Several other delivery services did not return requests for comment.
