PETA Plans Memorial Billboard For Delaware Co. Cattle Truck Crash

A national animal rights organization says it will post a billboard message in Delaware County to remember the cows killed in a mid-July truck crash on Interstate 69 and State Road 332.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, known as PETA, says the billboard will "be a tribute" to the animals killed. An image of the billboard message features a cow with the message "I'm ME, Not MEAT. See the Individual. Go Vegan."

The July 11 early morning crash killed about 10 cows out of 38 in a semitrailer driving from Springfield, Kentucky, to Plainfield, Michigan. The truck driver told police that a car forced him off the State Road 332 ramp.

Moira Colley with PETA says the organization hasn't yet signed a contract with a billboard company, so she could not say what billboard it will use or when the message will appear.
