Ft Wayne Doctor Could Lose License Over Opioid Prescriptions

Fort Wayne anesthesiologist Dr. Michael Cozzi is charged with felony possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug.

Federal agents raided Cozzi's home and offices yesterday. Cozzi was arrested and taken to the Allen County jail.

Documents filed by the Indiana Attorney General describe Cozzi as a "clear and immediate danger to the public health and safety."

The state is seeking the suspension of Cozzi's license to practice medicine.

Authorities say he prescribed controlled substances to 1,700 different people, including 2 million dosage units of Oxycodone and 1.2 million dosage units of hydrocodone.
