Honda To Invest $52 Million In Indiana

Honda Manufacturing of Indiana announced Tuesday they plan to invest $52 million at its Greensburg facility.

The largest portion of the money, $40 million, will go toward adding production of the Honda CR-V, Honda's second-highest selling model in the United States last year.

Production of the CR-V will begin in early 2017, and is expected to create up to 100 new jobs by the end of 2016.

"Honda has been a great partner to the state of Indiana from the moment the company announced plans to establish a facility in Greensburg in 2006," Gov. Mike Pence said in a statement. "The automotive industry in Indiana supports more than 100,000 Hoosier jobs and that number will continue to grow thanks to the commitment of companies like Honda."

The remaining $12.37 million will be put toward a 20,000-square-foot Associate Resource Center used for job training.

Honda employs more than 2,300 Hoosiers. The Greensburg facility currently has the capacity to produce 250,000 vehicles each year.
