IU Women's Basketball Team Loses In Second Round

After capturing their first NCAA Tournament win in 33 years against Georgia in first round, Indiana's women's basketball season came to an end following a 70-87 loss to No. 1 seed Notre Dame in South Bend Monday night.

Junior Karlee McBride and junior Alexis Gassion led the Hoosiers in scoring with 17 points while Notre Dame junior Lindsay Allen had the game high with 22 points.

Notre Dame, 33-1, who's only loss of the season came to undefeated University of Connecticut, was able to hold All-Big selection Tyra Buss to only 10 points on 3-16 shooting, 8 points shy of her season average.

While the Hoosiers played a competitive 3rd quarter, the Fighting Irish were just too much for the much-improved Hoosiers.

In her second year as head coach, Teri Moren commanded the Hoosiers in their first 20-win season ever, a season which garnered her Big Ten Coach of the Year honors.

The Hoosiers were undefeated (14-0) at Assembly Hall this season and increased their win total by six compared to the previous year.

The Hoosiers finished the season 21-12 and are expected to return all starters for next year.
