IU Med Grad Included In Time Magazine's Person Of The Year

Time Magazine announced the Ebola fighters, including an Indiana University School of Medicine alumnus, as its 2014 Person of the Year Wednesday.

Dr. Kent Brantly, a missionary worker for Samaritan's Purse, graduated from the IU School of Medicine in 2009 and is an Indianapolis native.

Brantly had been working in Liberia for nearly a year when he became the first American to be infected with Ebola. He was flown to the U.S. in early August for treatment and released later that month.

"Those who paid the highest price for their service are themselves West Africans. It's an honor for me to be considered as a part of that group," Brantly told the TODAY show.

Brantly will share the title with other doctors working to contain the deadly virus.
