Skillman To Travel To Japan Next Month

Indiana Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman will travel to Japan next month. She says the trip will focus on strengthening current relationships and creating new ones.

"Japan is our largest trade partner, Asian trade partner. We have about 216 Japanese based companies in the state of Indiana. Those companies are employing more than 38 thousand Hoosiers," she said.

Skillman says she believes Hoosier companies are just beginning to realize what opportunities are available globally.

Indiana had a sister state relationship with Tochigi Prefecture since 1998. She says beyond that one area, Indiana does have a very high number of Japanese delegations that visits the state regularly.
