Bloomington’s new COVID-19 testing site will open Monday across from Kroger and the B-Line Trail.
This new site comes when positive cases are surging both in Monroe County and statewide.

IU Health South Central Region President Brian Shockney said local hospitals are prepared if there is a rapid increase in COVID-19 patients.
“Our plan does call for dialing back on surgeries and dialing back on clinic and office care and going back to virtual care, so that we can those precious resources to the bedside,” Shockney said.
Shockney said steps taken this past summer and fall include hiring more health care workers.
Residents who wish to get tested at the new site can make an appointment online at the Indiana State Dept. of Health's website. No walk-ins will be accepted.
Hours will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
The site will operate until June 30, 2021 and is expected to serve about 200 people per day.
