Jacobs School Ensemble Wins Grammy

The Bloomington-based group Pacifica Quartet earned a Grammy Award under the “Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble” performance category for its recent album, "Contemporary Voices."

The Recording Academy delayed the Grammy Awards until March 14 th, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The group also won a Grammy in 2008 for its album "Elliot Carter: Quartets Nos. 1 and 5". 

IU’s Jacobs School of Music named Pacifica Quartet its quartet-in-residence in 2012. 

The group includes violinists Simin Ganatra and Austin Hartman, violist Mark Holloway, and cellist Brandon Vamos, all Jacobs faculty members.

Jacobs Alumna Laura Sisk also picked up a Grammy as an engineer and mixer on Taylor Swift’s album “Folklore" which won "Album of the Year" in 2015, Sisk won a Grammy in the same category for working on Swift’s album “1989.”
