COVID-19 numbers in Indiana have been on the rise since early March, despite the more than 1 million Hoosiers who have been vaccinated so far.
Monday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) shows a seven-day all-test positivity rate of 3.6% -- the highest rate since mid-February. In the last two weeks, that number has risen from 3.0%.
IDOH reported 730 new cases and five additional confirmed deaths Monday. That brings the state’s totals to 684,733 cases and 12,622 confirmed deaths.
Hospitalizations are also trending up after dipping down to a low of 548 in March. Currently, there are 655 Hoosiers hospitalized with the virus.
In Monroe County, officials reported 18 new cases and no new deaths Monday. The county’s totals are now 10,866 cases and 166 deaths. The county’s positivity rate remains at 0.8% for the fourth straight day. Area hospitalizations are at 22.
