The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) reported the statewide seven-day positivity rate at 4.3% Monday. The last time Indiana's COVID-19 seven-day all-test positivity rate was this high was in mid-February.
The rate bottomed out at 3% in early March, but has been steadily increasing since then. State and local officials use the seven-day all-test positivity rate to determine the prevalence of the virus.
And while thousands of Hoosiers become fully vaccinated each day, cases and hospitalizations continue to rise.
Monday's numbers show 704 Hoosiers currently hospitalized with the virus -- the last day hospitalizations were above 700 was March 2.
IDOH reported 762 new COVID-19 cases and just one confirmed death Monday, bringing the state totals to 691,625 cases and 12,668 confirmed deaths.
In Monroe County, officials reported 40 new cases and no new deaths.
Monroe County’s totals are now 11,042 cases and 166 deaths. The county’s positivity rate is at 1% for the second day in a row, and area hospitalizations are at 29.
Over the weekend, IDOH invited Indiana University-Bloomington faculty, students and staff to register for a COVID-19 vaccine at a campus-exclusive clinic at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
